From AJ's Mom...
Being a staff member at the MLK Center for the past 4 years I have gotten to witness child after child having a lightbulb moment when they finally start reading at grade level. Our reading and literacy program, in partnership with The Indy Learning Team,
is a program that is not offered where I live in Center Grove. You would think there would be! So I decided to send my own son, AJ, to MLK Center’s Summer Camp because I knew he needed help with reading and there is no better program than this to send him to.
I was blown away with the improvement AJ showed in just 6 weeks. He used to struggle so much and get so upset with himself when he would try to read. Between our program and his one on one tutoring, AJ is reading at grade level. Now, he has so much more confidence in himself when he reads and even gets excited to read me something.
I cannot express how pleased I am with AJ’s results from this summer! AJ is even using skills and tools he learned this summer to help him read. AJ had his lightbulb moment too, thanks to tutoring and The Indy Learning Team!
