Program Updates

School’s out, and summer is here. But for us at Adira Reads, that doesn’t mean the learning stops—it means we get to do things differently. Too often, summer is seen as a break from academics. But a growing body of research tells us something powerful: summer is actually an opportunity. A comprehensive meta-analysis of 41 studies from the U.S. and Canada found that children who engaged in summer reading—whether through teacher-led instruction or self-directed book reading—made meaningful gains in reading skills. The benefits were especially pronounced for low-income students when the programs were grounded in research-based practices.

This year, we're supporting three summer programs with our TILT Tech with Adira Reads system. Before the first day of programming, students were assessed using one of two diagnostic tools to ensure we hit the ground running. Instruction didn’t start with guesswork—it started with insight. Adira Reads is consistently learning and updating based on increased data set and educator feedback. Below is a highlight of recent innovation.

In today’s classrooms, data is everywhere—assessment scores, reading levels, progress monitors, benchmark reports. But more data doesn’t always mean more clarity. In fact, for many teachers, it’s just the opposite. They’re drowning in spreadsheets, dashboards, and acronyms, all while trying to deliver high-quality instruction to students with very different needs

Where Adira Reads Comes In

TILT Tech with Adira Reads was designed with these challenges in mind—not to replace teachers’ judgment, but to streamline and support it.

• It prioritizes what matters. Instead of flooding teachers with numbers, Adira Reads highlights key indicators that actually drive literacy growth—like decoding accuracy or word recognition speed.

• It maps data to instruction. Whether a school uses UFLI, CKLA, or another curriculum, the platform helps teachers link assessment data directly to daily lessons.
